The village is set in the stunning rolling foot hills of the Rila Mountain range and many of the finest views of the Rila peaks can be seen from Saparevo. Life here is traditional and centred around the Eastern Orthodox Church.

A visit to the Church of the Devine Mother near the centre is worthwhile, before hiking 25 minutes up to the Paraklic of The Archangel Micheal.
